How to practice Setu Bandhasana from the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series

Setu Bandhasana is the last asana in the Ashtanga Yoga primary series. For many people, it brings up a lot of fear, and some practitioners miss it out altogether.

However, if practiced with good technique it doesn't have to be scary. It’s a backend that helps to strengthen the neck, pelvis, thighs and ankles. It’s said to purify the root chakra (Muladhara) and increase the digestive fire.

If you have any pain in your neck it’s best to avoid this one until you are recovered.
